W EST POINT, MS (April 26, 2012) – In response to phenomenal increases in both wireless broadband coverage and the utility of smartphones, tablets and notebooks, MOOSE Media has published a digital magazine devoted to the workings of its most important partner, the Pursuit Channel.
According to leading market analysis approximately 475 million smartphones were sold globally in 2011, some 153.4 million during Q4. By the end of 2011, reported Nielsen, approximately 46% of mobile users in the U.S. were utilizing smartphones. Qualified estimates put the number of tablets that will be in use by 2015 at more than 330 million units.
The video-rich digital magazine created by MOOSE Media for the Pursuit Channel operates across all PC operating systems and the majority of Apple products. However, “iPad and iPhone systems don’t currently support the wow-factor of Flash-based digital publishing,” said Greg Tinsley, editorial director of MOOSE Media. “Inevitably we will utilize the best of what remedies are currently available, or soon available, to serve all Apple devices.”
Rusty Faulk, President and CEO of Pursuit Channel, said, “MOOSE Media sees digital magazines enhancing the quantity and quality of visits to HTML-based online systems and, in some cases, replacing them altogether. For more than a century, enthusiast communities have anticipated traditional, next-edition special-interest magazines with the thrill of paydays,” he explained. “By comparison, traditional HTML-based online experiences seem costly and creatively static.”
“MOOSE Media is a uniquely qualified publisher of outdoors digital magazines,” concluded Faulk. “Good looking, timely, wireless broadband magazines featuring video, HD still imagery, social applications and shopping may be the most interesting new-media tool yet. And the Pursuit Channel magazine by MOOSE Media is certainly one of the first and finest to market.”
