Josh and Shasta are lawyers by profession and in law, the bar is the legal profession as an institution. The term is a metonym for the line (or bar) that separates the parts of a courtroom reserved for spectators and those reserved for participants in a trial such as lawyers. They have found a way to go beyond their profession (the “bar”) to live and enjoy life with their family and friends. The challenge of balancing careers and families and the many unforeseen obstacles in life is common among nearly everyone you meet. For the outdoor enthusiast, they have the added desire to simply be in the forests and fields as much as possible, which fills their thoughts and schedules even more. These two attorneys are no exception. The Mullins family knows all too well the difficulties of this perpetual balancing act. Beyond the Bar will take viewers into the common outdoor lifestyle that we all share. Making time for family, hunting and that necessary evil we call work. Hunting, fishing or any activity that gets us outside, away from this crazy world we live in, will have a lasting and positive effect on us. Being outdoors has power to calm, heal and even shape our lives, making us better, stronger and more in tune with what should matter most to us. Production of Beyond the Bar will be entertaining, educational and hopefully inspiring to some that may be struggling with the pitfalls of life. You will see the Mullins family and friends unrehearsed and unscripted, hunting anything they can get a tag for and living life Beyond the Bar.

Josh grew up in Eastern Kentucky. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2001. Shasta grew up in Southern West Virginia and graduated from Mountain State University in 2003. They both attended law school at Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia where they met and graduated with Juris Doctorate degrees. They have two young children, Joscelyn and Jase, and a son, Tyler, who is attending college. After practicing as associates with other attorneys for several years, in 2011 they opened their own law firm, the Mullins Law Firm, PSC., in Hazard, Kentucky. They have grown their law firm into a very successful and lucrative business. They are licensed to practice law in state and federal court in KY, WV, and TN and handle cases across the continental United States. Josh and Shasta both intend to use the same determination and drive they used in building their law practice to make the BTB brand just as successful.
